SolTech Cuts Sales Time with Molnify and Zigned E-Signing

SolTech Energy, Sweden’s largest solar energy group, has transformed its sales process by replacing a manual Excel quote template with a custom Molnify web application. The new app, enhanced with Zigned’s e-signing, allows sales teams to create accurate quotes, send them digitally, and close deals during customer meetings. This case study explores how SolTech went from spreadsheets to signed contracts in minutes, and the benefits the shift has brought to their business and customers. We spoke with Jonas Larsson, Business Advisor at SolTech, about how the process unfolded and the impact it has already delivered.

SolTech & the Sales App

Can you start by telling us a bit about Soltech and your role as a Business Advisor?

[Jonas] Soltech Energy is Sweden’s largest solar energy group and has been publicly listed since 2015. The group’s overall strategy is to acquire companies within solar energy as well as roofing, electrical, and façade industries, and then transform those companies that didn’t offer solar energy at the time of acquisition to also start providing it.

For example, take roofing companies that install waterproof membranes — they already have strong relationships with the major hall and warehouse builders in Sweden. When they’re already on the roof installing the membrane, they can also install solar panels. They know exactly how to handle a waterproof membrane correctly, and the customer avoids having two different suppliers with two separate roof warranties.

My role as a Business Advisor is to help these companies get started with and develop their solar energy offering, but also to promote collaboration between the group’s 20 companies.

Jonas at SolTech

SolTech operates in a rapidly growing industry — solar energy, sustainable construction, and energy storage. What role does digitalization play in your sales and customer management?

[Jonas] Looking at the B2C segment, it plays an enormous role. Every project is unique. With a digital process, we save a huge amount of time — especially if a customer needs to contact us after installation. We can access all the details of the installation from the very first contact to what it produced yesterday at 2:00 PM.

You’ve been using the Molnify app for a while now. Can you describe how it has impacted your work?

[Jonas] As I mentioned earlier, we transform traditional roofing, façade, and electrical companies into solar energy companies. In the Molnify application, we have a calculator that you fill in step by step. Once completed, you can either print a PDF quote or send it digitally with e-signing to the customer.

This quote includes the customer’s expected payback time along with the price and green tax deduction — all generated after just one calculation. We also store all this in a database, allowing us to later analyze our hit rate and every other possible statistic from quote/calculation.

The app, together with e-signing, now makes it possible for our salespeople to close deals in a professional and smooth way already during the customer visit, instead of spending time at the office preparing quotes.

Before the Molnify app, we had — like so many others — an Excel spreadsheet. A manual quote template to fill out and no statistics.

E-signing & Next Steps

You’re the first to use our new "Create E-sign Agreement" feature in Molnify. What made you take that step?

a laptop and a paper document, ready to be signed with a pen

[Jonas] E-signing is important — especially for its convenience. Customers perceive it as smooth, and so do we. It also looks significantly more professional.

Many companies struggle with long sales processes and delays in contract signing. How do you think e-signing will change your process at SolTech?

[Jonas] It’s definitely a more professional customer experience, which is important for us to offer. Being able to close a sale during the customer meeting in a neat way is also crucial.

What benefits do you think your customers will notice first?

[Jonas] Again, a professional impression. It also creates a sense of seriousness, quality, and security for the customer, which are key focus areas for us.

[Jonas] It’s a perfect solution for us since we’re sending quotes. We already have the revenue secured for each cost. In our volatile and fast-moving industry, this type of solution provides both security and a more manageable calculation model.

Looking Ahead & the Future

How do you see this new e-signing feature fitting into SolTech’s long-term digital strategy?

[Jonas] E-signing contributes to better structure in the sales process. You can easily visit Zigned’s portal to see which quotes have been sent and which have been approved. The fact that it’s also possible to integrate with many other systems via API is a big plus.

What would you say to other companies considering implementing e-signing in their sales process?

[Jonas] My first advice is: just start. And as a customer, I value convenience. It’s a simple integration, so there’s no reason to hesitate. A win-win situation!

If you were to summarize in one sentence how Molnify has helped SolTech, what would you say?

[Jonas] When we turned our Excel calculator into a Molnify app, it’s so easy to keep building. New ideas emerge and expand what’s possible — many of them wouldn’t have worked in a regular Excel spreadsheet.
